Established in 1988, Society Development Committee (SDC) is a premier registered national development organization in Bangladesh with over 38 years of proven impact. SDC is dedicated to driving inclusive socio-economic empowerment among marginalized communities—focusing particularly on women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities. Gender equity and youth engagement are embedded into all interventions, guaranteeing a minimum of 35% female and 15% youth representation in every development project, with women comprising nearly 98% of our Microfinance members.

SDC collaborates closely with government bodies, international donors, NGOs, and community-based organizations. Beyond core microfinance program, SDC delivers holistic development programs across Climate-Smart Agriculture (safe vegetables, banana, livestock, general crops and fisheries), WASH, Health & Nutrition, Inclusive Education, and Entrepreneurship Development. We strengthen local value chains by providing smallholder farmers with modern technology, technical training, micro-financing, and high-value market linkages.

Furthermore, since 2017, SDC has spearheaded an innovative initiative called Integrated Waste Management (IWM)- Kitchen, Fecal, Medical, and Plastic waste in partnership with Practical Action and SNV Netherlands. Collecting waste from households across Faridpur, Chapainawabganj, Barguna, and Shibganj municipalities, we champ the circular economy by converting collected organic waste into bio-fertilizer and transforming discarded plastics into pyrolysis oil. Except that SDC transforms treated fecal sludge into rich organic compost. This circular economy model has evolved into a self-sustaining, scalable social enterprise.
